UK Nursing Registration Nursing and Midwifery Council(NMC) CBT
Being able to travel anywhere in the world because of your employment is one of the benefits of being a nurse. You must, however, be registered with the nursing board of the destination nation in order to practise there. You’ll discover that the process of registering abroad can be drawn out. But we are here to assist! We’ll be breaking down working and living in the UK across a number of blog pieces.
Obviously computer-based, the CBT is the first component of the Test of Competence (ToC).
The test is divided into two parts:
Part A covers numeracy and lasts 30 minutes. It has 15 short-answer questions.
Part B involves clinical questions for nursing and midwifery and lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Who is the UK's Nursing Authority?
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the nursing regulatory body in the UK. Anyone who wants to work as a nurse or midwife in the UK must register with and have NMC approval.
Procedure for Applying CBT
You can find a useful pre-application checklist on the NMC website. With this tool, you can exercise:
• What documentation you’ll have to submit to the NMC in order to register as a nurse or midwife
• Who to contact in case you have any questions.
• What advice you should read
The NMC will determine if you are qualified to enter the register during this stage of the procedure.
You must: • Present identity documentation;
• Await the evaluation outcome
The competence test verifies that you have the knowledge and abilities necessary to practise safely in the UK. There are two components to the competency test.
• the CBT, a multiple-choice computer-based theoretical test.
• an objective examination known as the OSCE
Before you can submit your registration application, you must successfully complete both portions of the test.
The NMC will evaluate your application after you have successfully completed the CBT and OCSE, submitted your final paperwork, and paid your registration fee. This process could take 30 to 90 days.
You will receive an email from the NMC detailing their choice and what to do next.
